Nadine Reimer named Week 22 Athlete of the Week

Nadine Reimer of the Red River College women's futsal team enters this weekend's Copa de la Paz Championship coming off an impressive finish to her regular season.

On Friday, the Rebels played to a 5-5 draw against Universite de Saint-Boniface with Reimer responsible for three of RRC's goals. The following night, Red River hosted Providence University College and shut them out 7-0. Reimer once again scored a hat-trick, bringing her season total to 18 goals in 10 conference games.

"Nadine is a model student-athlete", says RRC Head Coach, Doug Lawrie.

"Now in her final year with the Rebels, she has made a total commitment to our soccer and futsal programs over her three years with us, while maintaining top marks in Nursing.  This year she is a team captain and has been the heart of the team. Blending a highly competitive spirit with tremendous athleticism, she has really come into form as a scorer in futsal".

Reimer's big final weekend also helped her Rebels clinch the 1-seed entering this weekend's final tournament, earning 23 total points in the 2017 futsal season. The second-place Mennonite University College Blazers finished 1 point back with 22.

The Rebels will start their tournament this weekend against the #4-ranked Brandon University Bobcats, a team the Rebels are all-too familiar with. This season's women's soccer Final was played between the two schools and ended with BU earning their first MCAC trophy in school history. In the team's two meetings during the 2017 futsal season, Red River earned a draw and a win over Brandon University.
